Seattle Aquarium

1483 Alaskan Way Seattle, Pier 59 WA 98101-2015
CLIENT: Event Network
PROJECT COST: 300 thousand

Construction services for a 3,000 sf tenant renovation for the Seattle Aquarium on Pier 59. The scope of the work included expanding the existing, small, dimly lit aquarium store into a 2,500 sf retail floor with a 500 sf storage and receiving area. The exposed existing timber beams, columns, and decking combined with small hanging acoustical clouds brings out the feel of the old pier building. The lighting design in the acoustical clouds combined with track lighting and pendants gives the store an abundance of light to display their merchandise. One unique lighting feature is the LED display case lights, which are constantly changing colors and highlighting the wave wall design behind the merchandise. The interior finishes include metal wall panels, vibrant wall colors, and metal clad cash desk casework.

The project was completed while Jackie Costigan was at Turner Construction, under Jackie’s leadership.
Role on project: General Contractor/Construction Manager.
