Phinney Neighborhood Association Blue Building Renovation

6532 Phinney Avenue North, Seattle, WA
CLIENT: Phinney Neighborhood Association
PROJECT COST: Phase 1 (Blue Building) $1.9 Million (est.)

The Phinney Neighborhood Association acquired two City of Seattle historic landmark buildings on the site of the former J.B. Allen School in 2009 to include in their community center campus. Phase I of the development involves renovating and upgrading the historic 1904 Blue Building for accessibility, systems upgrades, and design of the surrounding site. Phase II will be the renovation and upgrade of the historic 1918 “Brick” Building for accessibility, systems upgrades, and completion of the campus landscaping. The goal of the community campus is to create a central gathering space for the community that can be used to unify, gather, and benefit local residents. In keeping with the goals of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, the individual buildings and the campus as a whole are designed with the intent to meet the Living Building Challenge.
