Microsoft Executive Briefing Center Expansion

1 157th Avenue Northeast, Redmond, WA
CLIENT: Microsoft
PROJECT COST: $12 million

The Executive Briefing Center project consisted of a 15,000 square foot expansion and 8,000 square foot renovation of this high-tech, high-end and high-security facility that enables delivery of world-class briefings to enterprise customers and partners. The Executive Briefing Center is located on the second floor of Building 33 which also houses the Microsoft Conference Center on the first floor.

The project was completed on an accelerated schedule (working six 10-hour days a week) concurrent with coordinated weekly with on-going operations of the Executive Briefing Center and the events schedule at the Microsoft Conference Center. The addition to the steel building, despite being planned in the original building, required the addition of brace frames, reinforcement of existing columns and a new stair tower for egress in order to meet current code.

The expansion included six large briefing rooms, two small meeting rooms, a large sky-lit break-out area with a servery, and a large covered outdoor terrace. All conference rooms are linked through a centrally-routed digital audio/visual system.

The project was completed while Jackie Costigan was at Turner Construction, under Jackie’s leadership.
Role on project: General Contractor/Construction Manager.
