Compass Center

Compass Center

77 S Washington Street, Seattle, WA
CLIENT: Compass Center Housing Alliance
PROJECT COST: $9.5 million

The Compass Housing Alliance, in the Lutheran tradition of caring through service, develops and provides essential services and affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in the greater Puget Sound region. Their vision: “A world in which every person lives in a safe, caring community.”

The renovation of the Compass Center facility involved renovating the 77 Building, a five-story, century-old facility that was heavily damaged during the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake. The renovation included the reopening of a hygiene center and bank and the addition of 23 apartments for low-income tenants in the second through fifth floors of the building.

The project was completed while Jackie Costigan was at Turner Construction, under Jackie’s leadership.
Role on project: General Contractor/Construction Manager.
